Having started out shooting promo’s for Germany’s biggest songwriter and music star, Herbert Grönemeyer, Herbert introduced Martin to Anton Corbijn. The pair first collaborated on music video’s for artists such as Herbert, U2, Coldplay and Depeche Mode. Martin later progressed on to commercials before being reunited with Anton to shoot his first feature “Control’ and later ‘The American’.
Martin’s internationally acclaimed work on ‘Control’ paved the way for a successful feature career and he went on to shoot seven more films with directors Ewan McGregor (American Pastoral), Daniel Barber (‘Harry Brown’ & ‘The Keeping Room’), Jaume Collet-Serra (‘Run All Night’), David Hare (‘Page Eight’) and Julie Delpy (‘The Countess’). The London Times called ‘Harry Brown’ one of the ‘most gorgeous looking films of the decade’ and Martin bagged himself an ASC Award for his work on ‘Page Eight’ for Best Television Movie. ‘The Keeping Room’ premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in 2014 as well as American Pastoral did in 2016.
Martin also shot his first tv-show The Counterpart, the pilot was directed by Oscar nominated Morten Tyldum. The Counterpart stars JK Simmons and will premiere in January on Starz.
